Competition is Opportunity to Receive Recognition for Retrofit, RCx Successes
Deadline extended to Friday July 17th
The Retro Rumble focuses on individual retrofit and retro-commissioning projects by submitting building performance data through ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager along with a general description of the projects. The competition will run through June 30, 2020 and uses Portfolio Manager’s benchmarking and reporting capabilities to measure results. To enter, commercial and public building service providers are asked to submit an overview of a specific project using the form below and include the change in the ENERGY STAR score or weather normalized EUI for an individual building over a maximum of a five-year period. Winners will be awarded based on the overall increase in ENERGY STAR score or site EUI.
Verification:
After completing the submission form below, participants will receive a link to a Portfolio Manager data request which will facilitate them sharing their results with EMA (without granting access to the complete building record.) EMA will have access to a report with the data request results to easily compare score changes and other metrics.
Recognition:
Award winners will be recognized on the EMA website, via social media outlets and at CxEnergy 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas. At CxEnergy they will receive a plaque and can highlight their project on a poster board near the entrance to the exhibit hall.
Specific Steps and Deadlines:
• April 17th: Open for submissions.
• July 17th: Deadline for submissions.
• Mid July: Case study submissions and Portfolio Manager results reviewed by EMA. Final winners announced via email and list of winners with brief summary is posted on the EMA website.
Application Directions:
To apply for recognition, facility service providers must complete the application below and follow the instructions from a subsequent email to report their client’s results to EMA in ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager. Applicants can apply using existing Portfolio Manager accounts and property performance data or set-up new accounts and properties to participate. If you are new to Portfolio Manager, the benchmarking starter kit is designed with you in mind.
Any property can apply to be considered for recognition. Buildings that can achieve a score in Portfolio Manager will be evaluated based on the change in score and other buildings will be evaluated based on their Energy Use Intensity (EUI) change. Baseline and comparison periods are for 12 months each. Applicants can submit properties based on projects that started approximately five years ago. Therefore, the earliest baseline end period that applicants can use is February 2016 and the latest comparison end period is February 2020.
